MULTIMEDIA CONTENT ANALYSIS AND REPRESENTATION (MICARE) Special Session of WINCOM 2024

Multimedia is a heartbeat for any mobile system, as being the essence of communication through text, audio, images and videos. These forms of contentare hugely transmitted acrossmobile networks, shaping user experience worldwide. Also, the transition from 3G to 4G and imminent arrival of 5Graises hopes for better multimedia content transmission in terms of quality, bandwidth, delay and error rate. Yet, realizing these advancements hinges not solely on mobile communication infrastructure but also on the media content itself. Encoding, compression, modeling and, overall representation of the multimedia content standas pivotal milestones, crucial for a successful user experience. The MICARE (MultImedia Content Analysis, and REpresentation) special session aims tospotlight the challenges and complexities inherent in multimedia content analysis. By bringing together researchers in the field of signal (image, audio, video, …) processing along with experts inmobile communication and wireless networks, MICARE fosters an environment for idea exchange, dialogue and expansion of their respective scopes.
