SS2: Multimedia communication systems, Information Retrieval and applications

Description of the technical issues covered

With the rapid advancement of networks, systems, and computing techniques, the information Multimedia has been widely applied in various domains, such as robotic-assisted surgery, computer game, home-based treatment, medical industry, security, virtual reality, architecture design and business transactions. The arrival of cloud computing and social networks has enabled novel paradigms for media sharing and interactivity, it allowed a development of a diversity of multimedia processing techniques in different domains such as Image Retrieval, Big Data Multimedia Storage and Management, Multimedia Applications in Cloud and services from social media, and Image and video watermarking. However, to fully realize this potential, many challenges need to be overcome that call for significant engineering innovation, which can only happen through close interdisciplinary effort and developed powerful multimedia systems that can effectively process huge amounts of Multimedia data and make them available for content exploration and retrieval.

This special session solicits original and innovative technical papers that focus on new applications and services that can analyze, retrieve, classify and annotate multimedia information even for big multimedia data, multimedia communication systems and networks.
